SAIM Volunteer Program
Speaking for All community Immigrant Members
Language for Life is proud to continue offering the SAIM Program for our registered students to receive the speaking practice they need to excel on the CELPIP Speaking test.
Our specially trained SAIM volunteers meet one to one with a Language for Life student to help increase the speaking fluency skills as set out by the CELPIP Canadian language requirements.

Our students benefit from SAIM
The SAIM program provides an opportunity for our Language for Life students to access much needed in-person speaking practice that will aid in their everyday communication skills as set out by our Canadian language exam, CELPIP. SAIM provides a trained volunteer that will be able to guide the learner through the challenging requirements of the CELPIP speaking exam module. The aim is to improve the newcomer’s English-speaking skills for the CELPIP exam and also build confidence that is vital for advancement in employment and integration into Canadian society.
Why volunteer with Language for Life and SAIM?
-
If you want to help and connect with your community on a local level
-
If you want to see tangible results from your volunteer efforts
-
If you want to empower our local immigrant workforce
-
If you are an advanced English learner yourself and understand the struggle of learning the language.
What will my volunteer commitment be to SAIM?
After your 10 hour volunteer training is completed, we would like a minimum of an 8-week commitment from you. All student meetings are 1.5 hours in duration, and usually once per week. This schedule is adaptable and will be coordinated with you both.
For more information, or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer with SAIM, please contact Tara Stewart.
